Wednesday July 24 - Open Fly Tying & Casting Session: Join other DFF members as they meet at Nature Center every fourth Wednesday evening for a no-host fly tying and fly casting session. It will be a monthly opportunity to tie or cast with your fellow members, sharing the latest fishing stories, and hang out with new and old friends. This will be a free event and open to club members from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the Oak Grove Regional Park’s Nature Center, Eight-Mile Road, Stockton. Contact Bob Fujimura at his email at: deltaflyfishers@gmail.com for more information on this event.
DFF is seeking members to sign up for a new series of Saturday morning classes designed to learn basic fly tying skills. These classes will allow members who have little or no familiarity with fly tying to tie their own flies and develop the essential skills to continue this art on your own. Tim Costello will be your instructor. Tim has been an expert tier for such events such as the 2023 Yuba Fest and the 2024 ISE Show and taught private classes with other expert tiers. Tim has been working hard to prepare handouts, materials, and AV equipment for this class and the course should be first-rate. The classes will be held on Saturday August 3, 10, and 17 in the Nature Center Classroom from 8:00 to 11:30 am. No cost for DFF members but attendees will need to pay the Park’s parking fee. To sign up, please contact Tim Costello ASAP (email: 4tmcostello@gmail.com or text: (209) 484-7424).
Have you done just enough tying to develop a few bad habits? Are you not sure where to go after your intro class? This is the class for you- the flies get a bit smaller and the techniques get more involved but the fun and support are free flowing- Look for the series on our calendar.
Fly Tying Day is December 7, 2024. An entire day devoted to fly tying with breakfast and lunch included. The cost is $30 to secure your spot.
